IRWIN, BENJAMIN F.

Springfield, ILL. Jan. 31--Benjamin F. Irwin, President of the Sangamon County Old Settlers' Association, died yesterday at his home, Pleasant Plains, aged eighty years. He was one of the first white children born in Sangamon County; was a wealthy farmer, and associated with Abraham Lincoln in his early life. He was a member of Company C, Sixty-fourth Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and was with Sherman in his march to the sea. He took part in the grand review at Washington at the close of the civil war. He was one of the oldest Masons in the State.
