Congressman Shaw Dead -- From a Lumber Merchant He Arose to Political Prominence.

Eau Claire, Wis., Aug 27 - Congressman Shaw died this morning. George B. Shaw was born in the town of Alma, Allegany County, New York, and educated in the public schools. As a lumber schools. As a lumber manufacturer he was well known and came into prominence politically as Mayor of Eau Claire, Wis., in 1888 and 1889. He was a delegate to the National Republican convention in Chicago in 1884 and was supreme chancellor, Knights of Pythias of the World, from July 1890 to August 1892. He was elected to the 53rd Congress as a Republican from the Seventh Wisconsin District. [The Morning Call, (San Francisco, Ca.), Aug. 28, 1894]
