BAIRD, H. S. Obituary

H.S. Baird, one of the sturdy pioneer citizens of Pawnee Rock township passed away Wednesday morning the 12th, after an illness of several weeks, aged 73 years, 1 month and 20 days. The deceased was born near Georgetown, OH Oct 22, 1833, where he grew to manhood. In 1866 he moved to IL and in 1879 he came to KS settling in Pawnee twp where he continued to reside until his death. He married Oct 5, 1856 to Mary A. Ewing, a sister of J.R. Ewing of Clarence TWP. Surviving are his wife and children: W. F. Baird of LaCygne, H.L. and J.A. Baird of Woodward county, OK, C.S. and Ray Baird living at home and Mrs. C.C. Reeder of Clarence Twp. [Barton County Democrat, (Great Bend, Kan.), December 14, 1906]


UNRUH, John B. Obituary

JOHN B. UNRUH, DECEASED
Speaking of John B. Unruh, whose death was announced in these columns on Wednesday the 14th, the Pawnee Rock Herald says: Mr. Unruh was trustee of this township and had performed his duties so complete that he was re-elected this year with a larger marjority than any man on the ticket. He was a member of the K. of P. lodge, which order had charge of the burial service. He also belonged to the Rathbone Sisters, the A.O.U.W. and the M. W. A. In the two latter orders he carried $3,000 life insurance. He leaves a wife and eight children, besides other relatives to mounr his death.

Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Swedenburg church, conducted by in the german language, by Rev. Albert Francisco, of Pretty Prairie. Interment was made in the Pawnee Rock cemetery. [Barton County Democrat, (Great Bend, Kan.), Friday, November 23, 1906]
