BAIRD, Mary A. Obituary

We regret to record in our columns tonight the death of Mrs. Mary A. Baird, which sad event occurred at her home, 8 miles north of Pawnee Rock on Wednesday last, at which time she was 76 years, 3 months and 18 days old. Deceased was born in Crawford Co., Penn., came to this place in an early day and with her husband, had the pleasure of rearing a large family of children and seeing them grow into the bone and sinew of this locality. Her life's work was well done and her reward we know will be a fitting one. Mrs. Baird was a good, Christian woman and died strong in the belief that there was a sweeter world in the great beyond, to which place she was answering the call to come, from Him who pilots eacn and all of us in his own god time if we have lived our lives in accordance with the divine plans laid down for us here on earth. Coincidental with the death of Mrs. Baird, it was just six years to the day since her huband passed away. The funeral services were held at the home this afternoon conducted by E. L. Nicholson, of the Methodist church after which the remains wer laid beside those of her husband in Pawnee Rock cemetery. A large number of neighbors and friends attended the last sad rites, giving ample testimony that one who has held in the highest esteem had departed from their midst. The sorrowing ones have the sympathy of all in their sad bereavement. - Pawnee Rock Herald. [Barton County Democrat, (Great Bend, Kan.), Friday, December 20, 1912]
