ALEXANDER, E. B. Obituary

General E. B. Alexander, of St. Paul, died at the residence of his son-in-law, Colonel G. N. Lieber, in Washington, the other evening, aged eighty-six years. General Alexander graduated at West Point in 1823. [The Progress, (White Earth, MN), January 14, 1888, P.2.]


BOVEE, Letia Obituary

Mrs. Letia Bovee died on the 6th at her residence in Sugar Loaf Valley, Minn., aged ninety-nine years. The dead woman did not marry till she was eighty-four years old. In her younger days President Buchanan was a suitor for her hand, but she refused him, and it is now said that this caused him to live a bachelor's life.
