Note in regard to cemetery: The six Gardner and two Miller graves are inclosed within an ornamental iron fence. This is the only part of the cemetery that is in the lot form. All the other graves are in rows, with families of course rather grouped together.

The inscriptions in this list were taken in order as nearly as possible. The westerly row was taken first, followed by the other rows in order toward the west. In each row the copying was done from south to north. This means that the work in the cemetery began in the southeast corner and ended in the northwest corner.

It is obvious that a great many of the stones have disappeared at the time of copying of inscriptions only about half of the space had gravestones. Yet the general crowding in places indicates that the whole cemetery was once used.

There are very few stones left in the north end of the cemetery, although tradition says that there were a large number of burials there. Most of the oldest dates of death are generally toward the northern part. Tradition also says that a Negro slave is buried there. It is likely that the north end is the oldest part of the cemetery.
