MOFFITT, Joseph R., Obituary

At the Fort Plain Rail Road House, on the 30th ult., Joseph R. Moffitt, Esq., of Washington city. Mr. Moffitt was on his return from Council Bluff in the far west, to his home in Washington. While at Chicago he had an attack of Typhoid Pneumonia; but continued his journey til he arrived at the station opposite this village, when exhausted nature gave way; and before his afflicted wife at her home, in Washington could, (in response to a Telegraphic dispatch) reach his bedside, he was numbered among the dead. His remains after being carefully boxed and packed in saw dust, were forwarded to Washington city. [Mohawk Valley register, (Fort Plain N.Y.), May 3, 1855]
