On Tuesday last departed this life, in the 80th year of her age, Mrs. Mary Burroughs, relict of Mr. Samuel Burroughs, whose death we announced a few days past. Near fifty years, did this couple live together in the connubial state; and many were the changes through which they passed; yet we can say with pleasure, they were the whole of the time unchangably united in their warm attachment to the cause of the blessed Redeemer, in the faith of whom they have fallen asleep, as shocks of corn fully ripe, coming in their season. Last Tuesday night, departed this life after a few days illness, Mrs. Sarah Collins, Aetat (?) 30 years, daughter of John Avery, Esq. of Boston, the truly amiable and virtuous comfort of Major John A. Collins, of this town -- leaving a disconsulate partner, three children, and a great number of friends and acquaintance, to bemoan their loss. She was sincerely attached to the principles of Christianity, and appeared always ready to meet the favour when it should be his pleasure to take her to himself. She was universally beloved and respected & it may be truly said, was an ornament to, and adorned her profession. On Thursday, her remains were entombed in the family burying ground, attended by as many of her friends and relatives as the distance and season would admit. In this town, on the 20th inst., Mr. Walter Easton, aged 78. As a tribute of respect to his memory, we would remark, that he happily possessed those pleasing traits in his character, which rendered him the indulgent and affectionate husband, the tender parent, and kind neighbor; generally beloved and respected by his friends and acquaintance. During a long and tedious illness, afflicted with the most excruciating pain, he ever manifested that patience and quiet resignation to the divine will of his Creator, truly characteristic of the real Christian. He bade adieu to this troublesome world, under, the consoling impression, that his heavenly Father would receive him into the mansion of his kingdom. On the 8th day of October last, on board the United States' Frigate Essex, commanded by Capt. Bainbridge, now on a cruise in the Mediterranean Seas, Lieut. George Washington Tew, eldest son of Col. William Tew, of this town, in the 26th year of his age. By the early death of this young man, who, with a good share of understanding, possessed a generous, noble disposition, and a character untainted by the too frequent extravagancies of youth, his country has lost a capable, deserving and spirited officer. His native town a valuable member, who promised fair to become an ornament to society and his bereaved and afflicted Parents, Relatives and Friends, all that their warmest affection could wish from a continuance of life, all that expectation could grant.
