John Adams, aged 15, son of Mark Adams of Danville, was drowned recently while skating on the pond at Shattuck's factory. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), December 29, 1881]


BAILEY, Jesse, Obituary

Died in Fairfield, Feb. 11th, Jesse Bailey, aged 82 years.

Fairfield - Mr. Jesse Bailey died the 11th of apoplexy, age 82 years. He was preparing to go to mill, when he was taken in a fit. Dr. Belden was summoned but it was too late to aid him. He lived only a few hours. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), February 16, 1882]

Fairfield - Our community was considerably starled by the mysterious death of one of our well-known townspeople, James Bryan last Friday week. He was quite well at dark, but was suddenly taken with severe colic pains, which lasted about two hours when he became easy and went into a quiet state from which he never woke. CROCKER, Sumner, Obituary

North Hyde Park, Died in North Hydepark, Dec. 20th, Sumner Crocker, only son of John and Carrie Blake, aged 11 years.

Little Sumner was a boy of more than ordinary promise in many respects and was greatly beloved by all who knew him. He had been a member of the Sunday-school from very early childhood. Valuable traits of character had already began to develop in his young life. His sickness was brief. He was taken violently on Saturday, the 7th, with pneumonia, and died on the Tuesday following. His funeral was attended on Thursday, the 22nd, by a large and sympathizing congregation of friends and relatives. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), December 29, 1881]

DROWN, David, Obituary

Morrisville, David Drown, one of the early residents of this town, died of heart disease at the depot in Jefferson on Friday last. The day before, he worked for his son Henry in the woods chopping. Although 82 years old he was remarkably well preserved and apparently in good health. He fell without warning.

Waterville - Mr. David Drown died very suddenly on Friday morning last. He went to Jeffersonville intending to take the train for the Boro. He run from the hotel to the depot in order to reach the cars in season, and fell dead soon after he got there. His funeral was held on Monday, the remains being taken to Morrisville for interment. DUTTON, Lucius Dutton's Child, Obituary

Hyde Park, Lucius Dutton, a former townsman, brought to this place for burial last week the remains of a young daughter, who died at St. Albans some six weeks since. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), February 16, 1882]

PARSONS, Jane, Obituary

Died in Fletcher, Mar. 1, 1882, Mrs. Jane Parsons, aged 31 years. Mrs. Parsons suffered through six months of weary pain, when she went to her rest. She leaves a husband and three children, who have the sympathy of the whole community in their sorrow. Her funeral was attended at the church in Binghamville, on Wednesday, March 8, at 1 p.m. by a large audience of the people of the town. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), March 23, 1882]

STORY, Adilaide, Obituary

Fairfield, We are sorry to notice the death of one of our most estimable young ladies, Miss Adilaide Story, of abscess of the liver. She had been a long and patient sufferer, never complaining, always striving by her cheerful words and manner to convey to those around her that she felt no pain and that all was well with her. Her death was like her life, calm and serene. Her funeral was largely attended by many mourning friends. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Boutwell.

The marriage of E. J. Nye to Miss Lucretia Tracy, was celebrated at Deacon Harmon Northrop's (grandfather of the bride) the 19th ult. The bridal presents were numerous and useful. [The News and Citizen, (Morrisville, Vt.), February 2, 1882]
